| On Sunday July 27 we will embark on our annual summer tour of members’ gardens. Daron Smalley (608-742-7700) and George Newton (715-249-5725) have volunteered to host us, and in addition have graciously offered to provide sustenance. We should plan to arrive at Daron’s around 1:00 PM, enjoy his hospitality (including a light lunch) for about 60-90 minutes, and then proceed to George’s for dessert. Here are directions from Madison: take I39 north to exit 92 Portage; turn right on US51 south; at the fourth traffic light turn left on E.Slifer St.; go past the schools, turn left on Pine Ridge Court, then after about half a block turn right on Clemens Court; Daron is at 563, the first house on the left. To get to George’s … go back to US51, take I39/US51 north to exit 131 Hancock; right on County V (West N.Lake St.), right on 5th Av., left on S.Lake St., then right on County FF; follow FF through a couple of turns to County C; turn left on C, go a little over a mile, then turn left on Greenwood; George’s is the first house on the left, address N3871. Approximate driving times are one hour from the west side of Madison to Portage, and the same or a bit less from Portage to Hancock. | |||||||||||
